Performance & Ratings
ShiftFlex automatically tracks attendance, punctuality, and reliability to help both employees and managers understand and improve performance over time.
Performance Scores
Every employee in ShiftFlex has two key metrics visible on their profile:
| Metric | What it measures |
|---|---|
| Reliability Score | Overall dependability based on completed vs. cancelled shifts, no-shows, and punctuality |
| Performance Score | Composite of reliability + manager ratings on completed shifts |
Scores are updated automatically after every shift. A higher score makes an employee more likely to be prioritized in auto-scheduling and shows a strong track record to managers.
Penalty Points
Certain attendance behaviors result in automatic penalty point deductions:
| Action | Penalty |
|---|---|
| No-show (missed shift without cancelling) | High penalty |
| Last-minute cancellation (within threshold) | Medium penalty |
| Significant late check-in | Low penalty |
Penalty points accumulate over time and affect your reliability score. If points exceed a configured threshold, you may temporarily lose the ability to claim new shifts until the points expire.
Viewing Your Performance (Employee)
Go to Profile → Performance to see:
- Your current reliability score (out of 100)
- Total shifts completed vs. cancelled
- Late check-in rate
- Active penalty points and their expiry dates
- Manager ratings you've received
Manager Ratings
After a shift is completed, managers can rate the employee who worked it. This is separate from automatic scoring and reflects qualitative feedback.
Rating an Employee (Manager)
- Go to the completed shift in your Shifts list.
- Tap Rate Employee.
- Score the employee on:
- Punctuality — did they check in on time?
- Quality of work — how well did they perform the role?
- Professionalism — overall conduct and attitude?
- Optionally add a written note, then submit.
Ratings are averaged into the employee's performance score over time. Employees can view their aggregate ratings from their Profile.
Improving Your Score
Check in on time or slightly early. Never miss a shift — if you can't make it, cancel with as much notice as possible. Keep breaks within reasonable limits. If you need to cancel, do it well before the shift start time to minimize penalties.
