Announcements

Announcements are one-to-many broadcasts from managers to all members of an organization. Use them for policy updates, schedule changes, important notices, or team recognition.

Posting an Announcement (Manager)

  1. Go to Settings → Announcements.
  2. Tap New Announcement.
  3. Write a title and body text. You can format the content with bold, lists, and line breaks.
  4. Optionally mark it as Pinned — pinned announcements appear at the top of the list for every employee until manually unpinned.
  5. Tap Post. Every member of your organization receives a push notification and can read it in their Messages tab.

Viewing Announcements (Employee)

Open the Messages tab and tap Announcements. All organizational announcements appear here in reverse chronological order, with pinned items at the top.

Team Messaging

ShiftFlex includes a built-in messaging system for real-time communication within your organization. This includes both group and direct messages.

Group Messaging

Every organization has a default team-wide group chat accessible from the Messages tab. All members of the organization can participate. Use it for quick team coordination, questions, and non-urgent updates.

Direct Messages

To message a specific colleague or employee:

  1. Open the Messages tab.
  2. Tap the compose icon (pencil) in the top right.
  3. Search for the team member you'd like to message.
  4. Start your conversation. Direct messages are private between you and the recipient.

Notification Preferences

Both employees and managers can control which events trigger a push notification. Go to Profile → Notification Settings to toggle notifications for:

  • New shift available
  • Shift claimed / assigned
  • Shift reminder (before shift start)
  • Shift cancelled
  • Swap request received / resolved
  • New announcement
  • New direct message
  • Time approval request (Manager)

Keep announcements for important info

Use announcements for critical, organization-wide information and group chat for casual team coordination. Avoid using announcements for routine messages or they'll lose their impact.
