Employee Overview
This guide covers everything you need as a ShiftFlex employee — from your daily shift workflow to managing your profile, availability, and performance.
App Navigation
The Employee app has five main tabs:
| Tab | What you'll find |
|---|---|
| Home | Your next upcoming shift, quick actions, and recent notifications |
| Shifts | The shift marketplace (all open shifts you can claim) and your claimed shifts |
| Schedule | Your personal schedule in calendar view |
| Messages | Team announcements, group chat, and direct messages |
| Profile | Your stats, skills, documents, availability, performance, and settings |
Claiming Shifts
Open shifts posted by your manager appear in the Shifts tab. You can filter and sort by date, location, or role.
- Browse the marketplace and tap a shift to view full details: time, location, pay rate, required skills, and any surge bonus.
- If the shift shows a countdown timer, it means it's starting soon — act quickly.
- Tap Claim Shift. ShiftFlex will check:
- You have the required skills
- You don't have an overlapping shift
- Claiming won't push you over 40 hours this week (a warning is shown if you're at 35+)
- You have sufficient rest from your previous shift
- If all checks pass, the shift is claimed and assigned to you. Your manager is notified.
Setting Your Availability
Go to Profile → Availability to set your regular availability. Use the weekly grid to mark which days and time windows you are typically available. This helps managers schedule you appropriately and is required for auto-scheduling to consider you for shifts.
Your availability is used by managers for auto-scheduling. If your schedule changes, update it in the app — otherwise you might be assigned shifts outside your preferred times.
Your Profile
Your profile is visible to managers and includes:
- Profile photo and contact info
- Your skills and certifications
- Documents (W4, I9, licenses) — upload and track verification status
- Your performance score and reliability rating
- Total hours worked and earnings summary
- Your notification preferences
